Rich Roll’s 2024 End-of-Year podcast is a must-listen. It’s actually two episodes packed with the best clips from his favorite interviews of the year—and these aren’t quick chats. Most are 1.5-2 hours long, so having the highlights all in one place is a total gift. I’ll be honest—I don’t always have time to tune into his episodes throughout the year, but I always make time for these EOY reflections. If you need a motivational reset, this episode delivers big-time.
I’ve been diving back into The Kominsky Method, and wow—it’s even better the second time around. It’s absolutely hilarious and manages to hit all the feels. Watching Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin bicker their way through aging and relationships is pure comedy gold. Highly recommend if you need something light but meaningful.
"Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter."
– Mark Twain
Turning 41 this Monday had me reflecting on how we define aging and growth. I’m feeling more grounded, energized, and playful than ever—here’s to making this year the best one yet!

"Life is a series of moments. If you miss the moments, you miss your life." – Robin Sharma
The holidays are magical but also... a lot. To stay grounded, I’ve started practicing tiny meditations:
Take 1-2 minutes after brushing your teeth or just before bed.
Simply pause and take 5 deep breaths.
No fancy setup needed—just you, your breath, and the intention to be present.
For me, this practice has been a game-changer. Even during those sleepless midnight cuddles with the kids, I’ve tried to focus on the warmth and connection (instead of obsessing over the lost hours of sleep). It's not perfect, but it helps!
Included a flash back photo of baby Jake and I as a reminder to cherish these fleeting moments!
Looking to level up your flossing game? Cocofloss has me actually enjoying this daily chore (and no, I don’t mean the dance move). It’s eco-friendly, infused with natural oils, and feels like a tiny treat for your teeth.

Gnossienne No. 1 is hauntingly beautiful—perfect for those melancholy, nostalgic winter days when the world feels still. I’m loving the challenge of bringing its delicate notes to life on the piano. Listen here, and tell me if it doesn’t hit you right in the feels.
Did you know our fruits and veggies aren’t as nutrient-packed as they used to be? Evidence is mounting that industrialized farming practices are depleting soil nutrients, meaning less of the good stuff makes it to your plate. Just one more reason to shop local, organic when you can—and make every bite count!
Many of you have been asking for updates, so here it is! I’m excited to share that despite tapering off my thyroid meds, I’ve successfully maintained my weight and kept my thyroid levels healthy. 🎉 For context, weight gain during a med taper often averages around 10 pounds (!), but so far, I’ve kept off the 5 pounds I lost in the fall.
What’s been working for me? Staying consistent with small but impactful habits: exercising with BFR bands, eating healthfully, practicing yoga, and keeping up with meditation. These tools have been my anchors, and I’m grateful for the progress they’ve helped me achieve.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement—it means so much! 💛

The Wild Robot – Okay, technically this is a kids’ movie, but don’t let that fool you—it’s a total heart-tugger. Robots, wilderness, and the most wholesome storyline to give your adult existential dread a vacation. Seriously, 10/10 recommend curling up with some popcorn and getting your feels on.
Iron Flame – You know the trashy dragon smut we’re devouring for the December 17 Yoga Book Club? Well, I’m doing the prep work so I can fully geek out with y’all. No spoilers, but… it’s spicy and I’m here for it.
Remember how I raved about my deodorant last week? Well, Cheryl (shoutout to you!) suggested I scan my deodorant on her favorite health scanning app, Yuka… and Yuka was like, “Decent, but you could do better.” 🤷♀️ Now I’m officially on a quest for a top-tier, pit-friendly product.
This has me wondering—what are you all using? Found something amazing (or horrifying)? Keep the feedback coming, because sharing is how we all level up together!

This couldn’t be more timely—my lower back started flaring up this week, and it’s reminded me how powerful yoga can be for relief. Lower back pain is one of the most common complaints doctors hear, and yoga is often their go-to recommendation. It strengthens the core, improves posture, and helps release tension in the hips and spine. I’ve been doing yin yoga at night (especially forward folds!), and those slow, deep stretches have been a game-changer for easing discomfort.
👉 Check out my interview with Debbie Asmus to learn how yoga can support your back health. If your back needs some love, this is the perfect place to start!
In January, I’ll be taking a Wilderness First Aid Certification course. Why? Because being out in nature—whether hiking, camping, or guiding retreats—requires a deeper level of safety and preparedness. This certification equips you to handle emergencies in remote settings where help may not be immediately available.
If you spend time in the great outdoors or lead group adventures, this training is invaluable. Message me if you’re curious about the process or thinking of doing one yourself!
As much as I love the science behind intermittent fasting, I’ve decided to step away from it. Here’s why: I’m focusing on healing my thyroid, and fasting can add unnecessary stress to this delicate gland. By shifting to a lifestyle of mindful eating and nourishing choices, I’ve dropped my medication by 50% while maintaining healthy levels.
The thyroid is resilient and can often heal itself with the right support. If you’re curious about my journey, what’s worked for me, or need book recommendations, reply to this email—I’d love to share more.

Fun fact: I got into meditation through a mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) course in grad school, and it seriously changed how I handle stress and navigate life. There’s real science backing MBSR—it's been proven to chill out your nervous system and bring on a calm like nothing else. Ready to try? Check out Palouse’s Free MBSR Course or UCLA Mindful Meditations for easy ways to dive in.
Ever wondered why people swear by cupping? It’s a game-changer for easing muscle tension, improving circulation, and giving you that fresh, loose feeling. Join us Monday—refresh, learn, and leave feeling unstoppable!
Okay, so Ancient Apocalypse on Netflix is a bit pseudo-science-y, but it's seriously entertaining! It dives into ancient mysteries with dramatic flair, blending myth and archaeology. If you’re up for a fun watch that doesn’t take itself too seriously, this is your weekend binge!

Parenting is like being a gardener – except the plants are always asking, "Are we there yet?" How to Raise an Adult by Julie Lythcott-Haims dives into the balancing act of letting our kids make their own choices and mess-ups (because, hey, it’s how they grow). It’s a great reminder that we don’t need to helicopter in for every bump in the road. Lythcott-Haims gives real advice on how to let go and set them up to become capable, resilient adults.
Today is Election Day! With all the energy and buzz that comes with it, it’s the perfect time to focus on a bit of self-care. If you haven’t heard of him, Sadhguru is an Indian guru I’ve been tuning into lately, and he shares some incredible wisdom on finding inner calm. His advice? We can’t always control the world around us, but we can control our response. So, consider setting up your own Election Day self-care plan – maybe a calming tea, a quick meditation, or some time outdoors. Let’s keep the peace within, no matter what’s happening in the world.
Let’s talk nails! I’ve recently started getting dipped nails – a newer method where your nails are coated in a colored powder and sealed with a top coat for a long-lasting, super-strong finish. It’s a game-changer for those of us who are a little tough on our nails! And I have to say, since starting this routine, I’ve noticed I don’t chew on my cuticles nearly as much. There’s something about those freshly dipped, glossy nails that makes me feel a little more polished (literally and figuratively). Sometimes, it’s these small acts of self-care that make the biggest difference.

You may have noticed the Weekly Harvest took a little break last week while I was hosting our Santa Fe Retreat—and what a weekend it was! Nestled in the heart of New Mexico, we gathered to reset, reconnect, and restore our spirits.
One participant shared, “This retreat helped me let go of what was holding me back and fully embrace peace and positive energy.” Seeing everyone leave feeling more grounded, open, and present was the highlight of our time together.
Lately, I’ve been unwinding by learning piano, a refreshing shift for my brain after days filled with high-cognitive scientific work. Tapping into this creative side has been invaluable, offering a different kind of focus and calm. Right now, I'm learning Nuvole Bianche via YouTube tutorial and it’s been such a rewarding escape. I even got to play it on the vintage piano in Santa Fe! Feel free to listen along if you’d like a taste of what’s inspiring me.
If tension headaches have been getting in the way of your day, let me share my go-to relief: a magnesium roll-on. I’ve been using it whenever a headache starts creeping in, and it’s amazing how quickly it brings a soothing, calming sensation to help ease the tension. For anyone who’s looking for a natural headache remedy, this has been a true game-changer for me!

Looking for your next great read? I highly recommend The Women by Kristin Hannah. This historical novel transports you to the Vietnam War era, following the journey of a young woman navigating love, loss, and her own sense of identity. It’s beautifully written and emotionally gripping—a perfect book to get lost in for hours.

Hack of the Week: Making lunches the night before. Seriously, this has been a game-changer! After the kids are in bed, I take a few extra minutes to pack up lunches for the next day (which is pretty much always just leftovers). This avoids me stressing over what to pack during the morning chaos—it’s all ready to go. I highly recommend bentgo lunch boxes, they don’t leak and come with different compartments to make packing quick and easy.
With winter just around the corner, I’m gearing up for cold weather adventures. Lately, I’ve been loving the REI Used Gear shop for my kids and myself. It’s such a great way to snag high-quality gear without breaking the bank—and it’s eco-friendly, too! From winter coats to snow boots, I always find something perfect for the whole family. If you’re looking to get ready for the season without the hefty price tag, I highly recommend checking it out.
Book Recommendation: This month, I’m reading "Fourth Wing" for my yoga book club, and let me tell you—it’s a wild ride! Trashy dragon smut but so wonderfully written. It’s the perfect escape from the chaos of life, giving me a much-needed mental break. If you’re looking for something fun and totally indulgent, this is it!

Ever heard of your pelvic floor? It’s basically the unsung hero of your body—a hammock at the bottom of your pelvis that holds all your bits and pieces in place. Think of it like the foundation of a house. When it’s strong and supported, everything above it functions better—your posture, core strength, bladder control, and even how you move. If this sounds like something you should know more about (trust me, it is), Dr. Sky of Summit Sports is bringing the knowledge bombs at my upcoming summit.
Life is a whirlwind in this season—kids, careers, endless to-dos—but let’s not forget about our friendships! I recently watched my friend’s kids while she was off being a bridesmaid, and it hit me how easy it is to let these relationships slip. We’re busy, I get it, but now more than ever, we need our people. The laughter, the support, and the deep conversations matter. So, maybe it’s time to text that friend you haven’t seen in a while or plan a catch-up—it could be the best thing you do for yourself this week!
Alright, let’s get real. We’re all getting older and, as we age, the body doesn’t back like it used to. Cue: Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training. It’s a game-changer for keeping muscle and bone density strong, and it’s not just for bodybuilders. BFR is an awesome way to combat osteoporosis and sarcopenia—fancy words for “your body needs more love as you age.” Want to learn more about how you can sneak in some strength-building? This week, I’ve been jamming to hits from the late 90s and early 2000s. These songs have such a carefree energy, and they’ve been my go-to during yoga sessions and walks. If you're in need of a fun boost, check out my Spotify playlist from Tuesday’s hip hop yoga flow and let the rhythm of nostalgia energize you. 🎶
I’m having less headache days, YAY!!! I’m halfway through my first Dry September in years, and while I’m noticing better sleep, the real surprise is the decrease in my migraines. I’d love to say it’s from cutting out alcohol, but there’s another twist—I’ve also started Network Spinal sessions. Too many variables changed at once, so it’s hard to tell what’s working! I’ll keep you all posted next month on how it goes when I reintroduce alcohol. If you've tried anything similar, let me know how it's going for you!
As we move deeper into fall, I’m reminded that this season is a beautiful opportunity for reflection. Just as the trees shed their leaves, we can begin to shed what no longer serves us. Whether it’s old habits, mindsets, or routines, fall invites us to let go and create space for growth as we head into winter—a time for rest and renewal. Take a moment to reflect: what are you ready to release? It’s a powerful practice to sit with this question and allow yourself to let go of what’s no longer needed.

I've been experimenting with a CBD-infused NA Tokyo Margarita as part of my Dry September challenge—the first dry month I’ve done in years! It’s a refreshing and flavorful non-alcoholic twist on the classic cocktail, and it’s made the transition easier and a bit more fun. I’ve noticed a marked improvement in my sleep, which has been a pleasant surprise, even if I was secretly hoping for some more dramatic shifts overall. It's been an interesting journey, and having this tasty drink on hand has definitely helped make the experience enjoyable.
I've been trying out Network Wellness Chiropractic after interviewing Dr. Sara Dooley for my upcoming summit. Although I was initially skeptical about the scientific backing—since many of the studies are case studies and observational—I was impressed by how gracefully Dr. Dooley handled my questions. After becoming a client, I've noticed significant shifts in my nervous system, leaving me with a light, floaty feeling after each session. Curious to learn more? Check out the full interview during the summit here.
Exciting news—we now have chickens! It's been such a joy to watch them settle into our little homestead here in Boulder. We’re also surrounded by a lively mix of wildlife and community; it’s not unusual to spot a bear wandering through or hear the laughter of the neighborhood's feral gang of children playing outside. Manifesting this lifestyle has been a dream come true, reminding me daily of the power of setting intentions and creating the life we desire. Interested in getting started with manifestation? This week, I've been introducing a beautiful Metta Meditation practice with my kids. It's a heart-centered meditation that focuses on sending loving-kindness to ourselves and others. We've been doing it together before bed, and it’s helped us all feel more connected, calm, and grounded. If you’re looking for a simple way to nurture a peaceful mindset with your little ones, I highly recommend trying this out!
I’ve been working with an incredible hypnotherapist, Kristen Hannappel of New Realisations, to help calm anxious thoughts and reduce my migraines. The sessions have led to some wild regressions, taking me back to earlier memories far beyond what I thought was possible. It’s been a powerful tool for healing and personal growth. If you're curious to learn more, don’t miss my upcoming free online summit where she’ll share insights and techniques. Sign up here to reserve your spot!
Outdoor yoga has been my go-to self-care practice lately, whether it’s in my own backyard or at a local park. There’s something truly special about moving through a yoga flow surrounded by nature—the fresh air, the sounds of birds, and the feeling of grass or earth under your feet. It helps me feel grounded and connected. Park yoga is becoming more popular because it combines the benefits of yoga with the healing power of nature. If you want to try it out, I’ll be subbing for a local Boulder teacher, Maria Rojas, who offers park yoga for the next 3 weeks, so come join me for a refreshing outdoor practice!

What I’m Listening To… This week, I’ve been enjoying the "Good Inside with Dr. Becky" podcast. It’s a treasure trove of insights on parenting and self-care, offering practical advice with a compassionate touch. Whether you’re navigating the ups and downs of parenthood or just looking for ways to better understand yourself and others, this podcast is a comforting and informative listen.
I’ve been trying out a new approach to cleaning that focuses on five key categories: trash, dishes, laundry, things that have a place, and things that don’t have a place. By breaking down my cleaning tasks into these simple categories, I’ve found it much easier to manage the chaos at home. This method keeps me focused and makes the process feel less overwhelming. If you’re looking for a more structured way to tackle your space, give this a try!
What I’m Doing for Self-Care… I’ve recently added daily grounding practices to my routine, such as spending a few minutes barefoot on the grass or doing a quick yoga session outdoors. These small moments of connecting with nature have been surprisingly powerful in reducing stress and enhancing my mood. If you’re feeling a bit disconnected or overwhelmed, I encourage you to spend a few moments grounding yourself each day—it’s a simple practice with profound benefits.

It’s a compassionate guide for anyone feeling overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life, offering simple and practical steps to reclaim your space and sanity. If you’ve ever struggled with the balance between self-care and household responsibilities, this book is a must-read. It’s like having a gentle, understanding friend walk you through the process of getting things done without feeling overwhelmed.
I’ve been experimenting with using ChatGPT to reclaim my calendar, and it’s been a game-changer! There's a motivational speech from Matthew McConaughey I just can't get enough of. Every time I listen to it, I feel a renewed sense of purpose and energy. It’s a powerful reminder to stop holding back and to commit fully to living the life I want. If you’re ever feeling stuck or need a push to go after your dreams, I highly recommend giving it a listen—it’s a game-changer.
One of the tools I use to keep that motivational fire burning is vision boarding. It’s not just about cutting out pretty pictures; it’s about creating a visual representation of your goals and dreams. I’ve found that by putting my visions onto a board, I can keep my goals front and center in my daily life, which helps me manifest them more effectively. If you’re curious about how to start, check out this How-To Guide on Vision Boarding—it’s an excellent resource for getting started and making your board as powerful as possible.
Now, let’s talk about something I’m still working on—cold immersion. I’ll be honest, I hate cold showers, but I’m trying to love them anyway because the science behind cold immersion is fascinating. Cold exposure can improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and even boost your mood by triggering the release of endorphins. Research shows that regular cold exposure can also strengthen your immune system and increase your body’s resilience to stress. So, even though it’s a challenge, I’m slowly embracing cold showers and cold plunges, knowing that the benefits are worth the discomfort.

I’m renewing my Wilderness First Aid certification, and let me tell you, it’s a game-changer. NOLS offers an excellent course that I highly recommend if you want to feel more confident and capable in the wild. Imagine hiking through the backcountry knowing you can handle whatever comes your way—not just for yourself, but for others too. It’s the ultimate way to level up your outdoor adventures and be the hero of your group.
On the rare occasion where I wear mascara, Blinc tubing mascara is my absolute favorite. I love this one because it stays put all day without smearing, and when it’s time to take it off, it wipes away easily in little “tubes”—no harsh rubbing needed. Say goodbye to raccoon eyes and hello to a fresh look, no matter what the day throws at you.
For years, I believed there were “rules” to how we should wear our hair—long for the young, short for the mature, and only natural-looking colors. But in the past couple of years, I’ve discovered the sheer joy of breaking those rules and using my hair as a canvas for playful expression and self-exploration. Whether it’s a vibrant new dye or a bold cut, experimenting with my hair has become a way to reconnect with my inner creativity and embrace the fun side of life. It’s not just about style—it’s about giving myself permission to explore who I am and how I want to present myself to the world.

Too much screen time can leave anyone feeling like a zombie. To combat this, I put my phone in a different room at bedtime and use a digital alarm clock instead. This helps me disconnect and recharge, reducing stress and improving my sleep quality. Check out my favorite digital alarm clock , and read more about the benefits of keeping your phone out of the bedroom.
To create a calming atmosphere at night, I diffuse my favorite lavender essential oil in my bedroom. It’s like aromatherapy magic that turns my space into a serene sanctuary. This little touch of zen helps me unwind and prepare for a restful sleep. Learn more about the benefits of essential oils here.
Staying in touch with friends is tough with work and kids, so I love "pebbling" – the act of sending little videos, tweets, memes, and voice memos to those we love. It’s called pebbling because it's like how penguins bring pebbles back to their loved ones. Just drop a funny meme or a heartfelt voice message to your bestie, and it instantly brightens everyone's day. Pebbling makes staying connected easy and enjoyable, no matter how busy life gets.

I’ve been there, staring at the ceiling, waiting for sleep to come while my mind spins out on what ifs and how comes. One game-changer for me has been incorporating yoga into my bedtime routine. Here are my go-to poses:
Child’s Pose (Balasana): This pose is perfect for relieving tension and helping me unwind after a long day. It’s like a mini-vacation for my back.
Legs-Up-The-Wall (Viparita Karani): This one promotes relaxation and improves circulation. It’s my go-to when I need to feel zen without much effort.
Corpse Pose (Savasana): This clears my mind and prepares me for sleep. I love ending my yoga session with this, feeling peaceful and ready for bed.
When the stress of juggling a million things gets too much, I turn to Box Breathing: Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, and hold for another 4 seconds. This simple technique helps to calm my nervous system and clear my mind. It’s like hitting the reset button on a chaotic day. You can read more about the benefits of Box Breathing in this peer-reviewed study here.
Balancing work and family can make it easy to neglect your marriage. That’s why I love impromptu date nights. Sometimes the best moments are the spontaneous ones—grabbing a last-minute dinner or sneaking out for a quick coffee date. One of our favorite activities is hopping on our e-bikes and heading to a trailhead (and trying to give your partner bunny ears in a selfie!). It’s all about seizing the moment and enjoying each other’s company whenever you can.

"Taking care of yourself doesn't mean me first, it means me too." - L.R. Knost
Simple, sustained and small efforts, such as a daily gratitude practice, have transformed my life and can do the same for you. What does my practice look like? It’s simple. During my alarm snooze, I close my eyes and run through a list of things I am grateful for that day. My breath, my body, my children, my partner, my doggo, the softness of my sheets, the chirping of the birds, etc.
Insight timer has a plethora of free guided meditations that are my go-to when I have a few extra minutes. One of my current favorites focuses on unwinding after the work day. I highly suggest unplugging your laptop at 4:50PM and popping this into your headphones before stepping out of your office into the chaos of home life.

I’ve dived into the enchanting world of forest bathing, where the trees become your magical companions. I’ve found the whispers of the woods have the ability to melt my stress away and fill me with a sense of wonder and peace. It's like stepping into a fairytale right in your backyard. And if you are a science nerd like me, I highly recommend picking up The Hidden Life of Trees. It will give you all sorts of crazy facts and bizarre realities to contemplate as you meander through the forest.
I bought this hammock during COVID (flash back photo below!) and started spending part of my work day outdoors. Gotta say, spending part of my work day in a hammock is a game changer. You may want to put a fork in your eye during that meeting about software requirements, but at least you can breathe some fresh air, get some sunshine and enjoy it a tiny bit. And sometimes you can even sneak cuddles and naps with your littles too!

I love this essential oil diffuser so much I bought two, one for my bedroom and one for my office. It's like having a little slice of spa magic at home. I love the built-in timer and it’s aesthetic, while my kids love pressing the buttons and changing the colors.

Someone recently pointed me to a Radiolab podcast on fascia. Absolutely fascinating! I forgot just how good Radiolab is (working it back into my rotation for sure) and they did a wonderful job of presenting the Western “discovery” of this incredible, vital semi-organ that is so essential for our well-being.
My Seattle hairdresser used this haircare line and I haven’t found anything else to compare. It is salon quality, color safe and uses (mostly) organic ingredients. I use their Nourishing products for hair, which is dry, fine and wavy.

It is summer travel season. Record your memories and go deeper with a journaling practice, using this beautiful travel diary.
Mindful walking was one of the first ways I explored meditation, mainly because it easily it folds into every day activities. Simply pay full attention to the experience of walking, being aware of each step, and feeling the contact of your feet with the ground. Open your senses to your surroundings. This practice helps you stay present, reducing stress and enhancing mental clarity. For a detailed guide on mindful walking, you can read this article from Calm.

I am SUPER picky about scents. I used to love perfumes, but now they all smell too chemically to me and give me a headache. I’ve been on the hunt for a scent I like for what seems like years and on my recent trip to Kauai with my dad I found this gem. It makes me feel like I am in Hawaii with a nice light floral and tropical scent. Yummmm.
Alcohol alternatives are everywhere these days, and I am here for it. If it’s weird and new, I’m definitely going to try it. I have to say my absolute favorite so far is Hiyo.
Make no mistakes, this hat is NOT stylish. But it’ll keep the sun off and keep you cool. It’s light, easy to wash and packs small. Every since our Portugal hike this baby is a hiking must for me. Guess this means I am solidly over 40 now. Who’s coming with me in the functional fashion brigade?!

I don’t know about you, but I am an absolute magnet for mosquitoes. The science says I may have a certain attractive chemical in my skin that the mosquitoes can’t resist, oh la la! If you are like me and looking for a natural mosquito repellent, Kinfield has a lovely product that smells nice and keeps the bites to a minimum.
My dad and I took a trip to Kauai last month, just the two of us. As many of you know, he was diagnosed with bladder cancer during COVID, at the same time that I was pregnant with my youngest and lived over 1,000 miles away. It was profoundly healing to take this trip together and truly cherish this extra time we have been granted together. Every year now around Father’s Day, I give my dad the present he truly wants: quality time. I encourage you to do the same - carve out the time for the ones you love the most, while you still can.
I can’t get enough of sound baths these days. And the weirder the better! If you are talking about your spirit guide, chanting and burning sage while surrounded by crystals, I am SO here for it. Eventbrite is a great place to find a soundbath in your area and, for those of you in the Boulder area, I highly recommend checking out Double Rainbow Ranch for truly authentic experience. If however, you think I am crazy and fallen off the deep end (which is definitely possible! haha), check out the science and Cleveland Clinic’s summary, experience one yourself, and report back!

If you are manifestation curious, but don’t know where to start, To Be Magnetic is a thorough and structured program I’ve been working my way through and would highly recommend. Manifestation has completely uprooted my thinking on what is possible (did I mention I live in Boulder now?!), and I’ve become a big fan of this seemingly ethereal practice. Happy to share deets with anyone who wants to go down the rabbit hole with me! I am just about to start the 2024 Summer Challenge and am looking for a buddy to do the challenge with me, is it you?!
I’ve been diving into the world of dreams and their meaning lately with Athena Laz in her book The Alchemy of Your Dreams. Having lots of recurring dreams these days and still trying to unearth what the heck it’s all about. Subconscious beliefs rising? A random rewiring of my brain presented to me while in sleep state? Messages from the beyond? Not quite sure which but compelling all the same.
I’ve been searching for what feels like years to find an every day underwear that fits the bill and alas, it is here! With merino wool as the primary component, Branwyn’s bras and undies are perfect for hiking, yoga or working at your desk. They say they can go 7 days without smelling (cool! but also, yuck…).

I dropped off the radar folks because *drumroll please* I moved to Boulder! Many of you have been hearing for years about my love of Colorado and I am finally back where my heart feels at home. For those of you in the PNW, I will miss our verdant drizzly forest forays dearly BUT this doesn’t mean we can’t still practice together. In addition to my new menu of retreats, I also provide one-on-one instruction remotely. Reach out for details if you are interested. For those of you in Colorado, come join me for my new Chataqua yoga hike series which begins April 19th.
Lately I’ve been really intrigued with breathwork and its potential to positively impact our nervous system. I just plowed through Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art by James Nestor and thoroughly enjoyed the author’s ability to weave together their own health journey with the history of ancient breathwork practices and modern pulmonary scientific findings. Now to figure out which of the many different breathwork practice to begin with for myself…
A few years ago, I discovered Nectar Essence at a tucked away crystal shop in Sedona and it’s been my favorite essential oil ever since. Some of my favorites are the Bliss Amethyst spray and the Breathe me - Sleep essential oil. Heavenly!
Fiddle leaf fig. More like fickle leaf fig! It took awhile to figure out what this little plant needed from me, but after many months and dead leaves, things are on the up and up and its finally got some new growth 🙌 must be being next to the coffee bar that keeps it going ☕️
Fun fiddle facts:
2016, The New York Times named the fiddle leaf fig “The ‘It’ Plant of the Design World”Originates from tropical rainforests of West Africa
It’s named after the musical instrument, the fiddle, due to its flat, broad leaves
The leaves can grow up to 30 inches long
In the wild fiddle leaf fig trees are epiphytes, meaning that they grow on top of other plants, where there is plenty of sunlight. As they grow down, they may strangle the plant as they compete for resources.
I’ve had several pregnant and postpartum students lately and have been telling them all about Studio Bloom. This was a lifesaver for me during my second pregnancy! It’s a workout subscription offering yoga, cardio and strength classes safe for mamas. One thing I loved about it is the focus on proper form and how to build pelvic floor strength.
Jungle Yoga at Molbak’s in Woodinville this Saturday is almost full! Snag one of the last spots by registering here.
Yerbana Yoga in the Park was packed last week! I loved the energy of having hundreds of people from all walks of life come together to do yoga in the glorious Seattle sun. Join me tomorrow? I’ll be at the booth lending out yoga mats (while they last!). It’s 6:30-7:30PM at
Gas Works Park (also, it’s FREE!!).
“Come forth into the light of things. Let nature be your teacher.” W. Wordsworth. Found this gem while scouting out
Wallace Falls for a future yoga hike location.

Summer yoga at Gasworks park is an iconic Seattle event. I’m excited to be volunteering with this group for the rest of the season! You’ll find me helping getting people set up or demonstrating yoga poses during the class. Every Thursday 6:30-7:30PM for FREE; register here.
Next week I’ve got a scouting mission to Wallace Falls planned. It’s a moderate 5.6 mile round trip hike along the river, through the forest, with several waterfalls at the end. I’ve done the hike before, but this time I’ll go with an eye out for good yoga spots (and I’ll bring my fly rod too!).
I just started listening to the audiobook for The Seven Necessary Sins for Women and Girls by Mona Eltahawy. The book is described as, “a bold and uncompromising feminist manifesto that shows women and girls how to defy, disrupt, and destroy the patriarchy by embracing the qualities they've been trained to avoid.” So far it’s been spicy, refreshing and challenging. I’m looking forward to hearing the details of each of the seven deadly “sins” (to be angry, ambitious, profane, violent, attention-seeking, lustful, and powerful) and Eltahawy’s argument for embracing them as a way to empower ourselves.

Sol Duc Falls trail in Olympic National Park was an excellent family friendly hike (1.9mi RT). We took kids aging 2 to 10 and everyone had a lovely time hiking in the light rain and viewing the falls. HUGE bonus is the nearby hot springs for a post hike soak.
Avocado sandwiches! It’s the perfect lunch. I toast two slices of bread, slather them in mayo, throw on half a sliced avocado, plus whatever extra fun toppings I have around (cucumber, hummus, garlic sauce, furikake, sesame oil,…). It’s filling, light and energizing. Pair this with some fruit snacks poached from the kiddos and I’m a happy camper.
You may not realize, but I offer MANY types of yoga. Hiking, outdoors, in-home, remote, corporate, girls trips, bachelorettes, private sessions, groups, the list goes on! I focus on slow flow, vinyasa, yin, restorative and power styles. Reach out to me directly for pricing details.

“Everything you've ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear.” George Addair
I’m really into Oboz right now. They are great if you have a regular or wider foot bed and like good arch support. Bonus is mine are waterproof, a must in the PNW.
I’m tracking macros for the first time and I’m not going to lie, it’s awful. I thought it would be straightforward like tracking calories or points. I liked the idea that it is a healthier approach, training you to eat in a more balanced way and giving your body consistency. But trying to hit a protein, carb and fat goal within 5g feels almost impossible. I’d love to hear your stories and tips if you’ve done this successfully! I’m 3 months in and typically only hit my goal 2-3 days a week.

It took me years to finally break down and buy a yoga bolster. After much research, I got a more spendy one from Yoga Design Lab, but the quality made it well worth it. I opted for a fun, playful print that puts a smile on my face. I love the soft cover (almost velvety!) and the firmness of it. Much better than stacked pillows and makes me feel yoga glam (that’s a thing, right?!).
The Planted Yogi has been a slow unfolding of my dream to teach yoga outdoors. Having professional photos is key to building a business in this space and I am excited to announce that I am working with Janna Rasch from Drishti Photography to pull this off. One of her specialties is branding photography and she does amazing creative shoots. Fun fact: we both are certified yoga instructors and quit our jobs earlier this year to free up more time for our creative pursuits, woot woot!
Monthly massage subscription. Best 100 bucks I spend every month. If you aren’t doing this yet, I couldn’t recommend it more. It lowers the activation energy for self-care. If you are in the Seattle area, I highly recommend Will C. at DreamClinic - they are worth the wait!

The WeCroak app will sends you a quote and reminder that you are going to die 5 times a day. Their motto is, “Find happiness by contemplating your mortality”. While the concept seems a bit morbid at first, I have actually found the app to be one of my favorites - a periodic reminder throughout my day for me to check myself. Am I being present with my children? Am I living the life I want to? Check it out and let me know how it works for you!
Manifesting sounded like a bunch of woo-woo BS to me at first. But now I LOVE it. This video from Mel Robbins explaining what it is and how to do it correctly (based on science!) really shifted my perspective. Now every day before I get out of bed, I spend a couple mins with my eyes closed, visualizing what it feels like to work towards and achieve my goals. It’s a couple mins of relaxing “me time” and helps put my day’s activities into perspective.
Get ready for a new online class series - “Yin & Zin.” Unwind together and bliss out in some end of day yin poses, then pour yourself a glass of wine while we shoot the breeze. It’ll be a casual and fun way to get in some me time, yoga time and girl time. 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month, starting July 18th. Pre-register now.

I’ve been battling migraines for years and I feel like I have tried it ALL. When I am on the brink of a headache become a full fledge migraine, one of my favorite tools is yoga nidra.
For the uninitiated, it’s essentially a nap where you stay lucid (in that asleep but aware of being asleep state). What it looks like is me laying in bed for 20-25 mins, eyes closed and covered, and noise cancelling headphones playing my favorite yoga nidra recording. It ends up being much more restorative than a nap (no groggy feeling) and typically brings my tension headache down to a tolerable level. I almost always listen to the same exact recording so that it’s even easier to zone out. It’s free on the Insight Time app.
I went to scout out Stan’s Overlook as potential yoga hike spot with the doggo last week.
Pros: Beautiful views, a gorgeous park for yoga before/after hiking, gets your heart pumping with a nice amount of climbing (1,050ft elevation gain in 2 miles)
Cons: Crowded parking lot, only one trail option that is out and back
I just finished listening to The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer on audiobook for the second time. It’s wonderful exploration of spirituality and what it looks like in practice. It’s a new favorite of mine and so dense with wonderful nuggets that I know each time I revisit it I’ll continue to walk away with new learnings. It’s a bit out there at times, so brace yourself for a trip to the milky way. Woo hoo!
I am back into the groove of doing some super mellow yin yoga before bed. My go to YouTube teachers right now are Yoga with Kassandra and Travis Eliot yoga. I love popping on a 15-30 min class, putting on my earphones, and zenning out before slipping into bed.
Last weekend we went on our second camping trip of the season, this time to Dosewallips State Park.
High: eating freshly shucked oysters from Hama Hama Oyster Farm and drinking champagne at the campsite.
Medium: Going on a hike that ended early due to stepping in a massive poop. Hilarious and gross.
Low: Fighting off a migraine and chasing a cranky teething toddler around the campground.
I went to scout out Anti-Aircraft Peak as potential yoga hike spot with the doggo last week.
Pros: Beautiful views, flat lawns for yoga before/after hiking, good amount of trails with modest hills
Cons: Fairly buggy, definitely will bring OFF next time!
The summer camping season has officially begun. Woo hoo!!!
Last weekend we stayed at a family farm near Larrabee State Park and now my toddler won’t stop aggressively yelling “TRACTOR!” at us. It’s sweet, in that abrasive toddler way. Highlight of the trip was picking up oysters at Taylor Shellfish and shucking them back at the campground. Delish. The one food your kids won’t try to steal from you either.
Next weekend we are off to check out Dosewallips for the first time, more to come on that. And hopefully more oysters too…
I am half way through a 3 month weight lifting program. I love the accountability of having a trainer, and the changes in my body that I’m seeing and feeling.
But I gotta admit, I still find weight lifting boring and slightly irritating. And it’s hard to get in my yoga time when I’m spending 5+ hours a week weight lifting.
How to make it more tolerable? I started lifting in the backyard to get some fresh air and vitamin D, and also switched my tunes from amped up club bangers to podcasts to engage my mind. I’m revisiting one of my former podcast staples, The Rich Roll podcast. If you haven’t dived into it before, start with his yearly roundups.
I’m actively scouting out yoga hike locations for June. I plan to make it out to some trails off Hwy 2 and I-90. A few on the short list are:
Stan’s Overlook (on Rattlesnake Mountain Trail)
Let me know if you want to join me on some mid-week scouting hikes in the next 2-3 weeks. Always nice to have some company!
